Building relationships key to handyman service

The Little Guy’z tackle jobs from small to complex
May 19, 2021

Six years after he launched The Little Guy’z handyman service, Dominick Coviello has partnered with like-minded friends to expand his reach and tackle bigger projects in more areas of Sussex County.

“I love what I do,” Coviello said. “I do the best I can, and as long as customers are happy, I’m happy.”

A majority of his customers need something fixed, such as a piece of siding that came off the house, that larger companies don’t want to take on because it’s a small job, Coviello said. He said he tries to respond to calls within 24 hours.

“If you can’t show up, don’t tell someone you’re coming,” he said.

In addition to small repairs, The Little Guy’z install windows, doors, decks and additions and provide light landscaping services, not including grass cutting. Other jobs include painting, powerwashing, plumbing, electrical, bathroom remodels, sidewalk and driveway work and repairs.

“We just don’t do heating and air conditioning work,” Coviello said. “If a customer finds something wrong, I want them to contact me right away so I can fix it and relieve them of their worry.”

Previously serving clients in Lewes, Rehoboth and Dewey, The Little Guy’z has extended its reach into Fenwick Island, Ocean View, Milton and Milford by working together with two other companies to provide reliable services and complete bigger projects, Coviello said.

“They have the same standards and motto I do - show up and do a quality job at a fair price,” Coviello said.

Originally from the Little Italy neighborhood in Wilmington, Coviello made the Cape Region his home 20 years ago, and has worked in construction for most of his life.

“I always loved fixing things, taking things apart and putting them back together,” he said.

The best parts of his job, Coviello said, are the people he meets and the bonds he makes with customers. Many longtime clients have become like family, Coviello said, noting that he attended the funeral of a customer whose relatives thanked him for the work and companionship he provided her.

“It’s about building a relationship, not just doing a job,” Coviello said. “The relationship is key, and honesty is the best policy.”

The Little Guy’z accepts credit cards and provides 24-hour emergency services and free estimates. Email Coviello at dominick2372@gmail.com or call 302-296-8678.
