CAMP Rehoboth seeks members for women’s a cappella chorus

Auditions for skilled soprano and alto singers available thru Aug. 18
August 6, 2025

CAMP Rehoboth Chorus is forming a new women’s a cappella ensemble. Auditions for the 12- to 16-voice ensemble will be scheduled through Monday, Aug. 18, in the Rehoboth-Lewes area.

The not-yet-named ensemble will perform unaccompanied, singing pop, jazz, Broadway, close harmony and other styles of music. Skilled soprano and alto singers ages 18 and above from any choral background are welcome.

The ensemble is affiliated with the CAMP Rehoboth Chorus, a 100-voice group that has been entertaining audiences for 15 years, but chorus membership is not required for the new group.

Jeff Buhrman and Laura Miller will direct the group. Buhrman said he envisions an ensemble that will uplift women’s voices through music and inspiring harmony, promoting inclusiveness, belonging and a spirit of camaraderie.

Buhrman is a voice teacher and vocal coach who has retired to the area. He has many years of experience as an educator and artistic director for major choral groups, including the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington and Voices of Kentuckiana. He currently serves as vocal coach and assistant director of CAMP Rehoboth Chorus.

Miller was a music educator in Maryland and director of choirs at Grace Presbyterian in Dover. She has performed opera roles in the Baltimore area and won the Towson University Concerto Competition.

The ensemble will begin rehearsals in September for a season starting with outreach concerts in late fall and a debut concert next spring. The group will present its own concerts and may perform as a group in CAMP Rehoboth Chorus productions. The ensemble will perform at special community events and fundraisers as well as senior centers and assisted-living facilities.
