Can it really be time for football season?

September 7, 2019

This year is the 100th anniversary of professional football as we know it. The first 40 or so years, college football was actually more popular until color TV became a common thing in households.

To celebrate this milestone year, the NFL will start the season with a game between the two oldest franchises, the Green Bay Packers vs. the Chicago Bears.

I am nervous about the Eagles’ first game even though it is against the mediocre Washington Redskins. I think it is very strange that Carson Wentz, Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson have not seen preseason playing time. To have your first team offense be a complete mystery doesn't sit well with me. We will all be anxious to see what happens.

The US Open tennis tournament will end on Sunday. Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal are the only players left in the tournament who have won previous majors. If Serena does not win her 24th major this weekend, it will be a big upset.

Both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer where upset in their matches and, sadly, both were struggling with injuries.

I'm counting on Federer to win one more major before he turns 40. Go Serena!
