January 15, 2020

For the eighth year in a row, Beebe Healthcare’s Oncology Services and the Sussex County Survivorship Coalition will host an inspirational one-day event to bring cancer survivors and caregivers together to share hope, support and resilience on the path to wellness.

After Ringing the Bell: A Cancer Survivorship Conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Atlantic Sands Hotel & Conference Center, 1 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. The event is offered at no cost, but attendees must register by Monday, Jan. 20. To register, go to https://afterringingthebell2020.eventbrite.com.

The conference focuses on integrating wellness and growing balance in life following the cancer experience. Attendees can learn how to identify post-treatment concerns as they integrate mind-body practices into cancer survivorship care.

Keynote speakers are Uday Jani, MD, and Carolyn Trasko, PhD, LCSW, CHTP.

Jani will present an illuminating look at how integrative medicine provides cancer survivors with guideposts to achieving health, vitality and joy over the course of a lifetime. He’ll explore this unique approach that includes nourishment, sleep, physical movement, paths to spirituality and more.

Trasko will explain how the practice of mind-body medicine can be a useful resource to help people strengthen the relationships among their emotional, psychological and physical experiences. These relationships offer important clues to help people develop sustainable self-care practices that can truly heal and transform. Mind-body medicine consists of a model of whole-person care that utilizes a focus on mind, brain, body and spirit to identify and treat illness.

Additional speakers will present on an array of integrative health and wellness topics.

Vendors also will have exhibits and provide a variety of health and wellness information and resources. Continental breakfast and a lunch will be provided.
