Canine Couture Expert Grooming to offer mentorship program

December 22, 2022

Canine Couture Expert Grooming is accepting new clients and positioning itself for growth in 2023.

A certified master groomer with the National Dog Grooming Association of America, salon owner Loren Mesquita has been providing high-quality dog grooming services in Milford since 2017.

Dedicated to raising the standard of pet grooming and helping the Delmarva area retain talented practitioners, Mesquita is starting a mentorship program through her business to share her skill set with others in the local community looking to enter the grooming trade. Mentees will have the opportunity to work side by side with a master groomer and learn skills that are in high demand.

“Pets are family, and I appreciate every single client that has put their trust in me to take care of their furry family members,” said Mesquita. Canine CPR-certified, Mesquita makes the safety and health of all dogs in the salon her No. 1 priority. She is able to make accommodations for dogs and clients in order to make them as  comfortable as possible while they are in the salon.

Mesquita has over 20 years of dog grooming experience in the Delmarva area. In 2022, she brought home numerous first-place awards for best in show and best in class while competing in grooming competitions across the United States. Most recently, Mesquita traveled to England as an invited guest speaker for Colin Taylor’s International Grooming Conference.

She regularly attends grooming competitions and educational events to make sure she is always improving her skills and staying up to date on best practices and trends in the grooming world. Her goal is to become part of the Groom USA team and represent her home state of Delaware at groom competitions around the world.

For pet owners, finding highly trained groomers in the area has been challenging. To keep up with the high demand from prospective and current clients, plans are in the works for Canine Couture Expert Grooming to expand services. There will be new groomers in the salon, and services for cats may be offered in the future.
