Cape bats come alive in scrimmage with the Raiders

Vikings to open against CR Thursday
March 20, 2023

The Cape baseball team had its final scrimmage of the preseason March 16, hosting Woodbridge at Chris Short Field.

Cape head coach Ben Evick used seven guns on his roster and no-hit the Blue Raiders. The Vikings’ bats powered 12 hits and scored 15 runs.

“Our pitchers did a great job getting ahead in counts and throwing competitive pitches,” said Evick. “We kept their hitters off balance and made plays when we had to. Offensively, we were able to string together some hits and produce some runs. Gage Joseph, Timmy Hitchcock and Lex Wescott all had triples. Brenn Scott added a double, and we capitalized on a string of singles.”

Woodbridge pitchers hit three Vikings batters.

The Vikings will begin their defense of the 2022 State Championship title Thursday, March 23, at Caesar Rodney.
