The Cape boys’ lacrosse team fell 18-4 to a strong Sallies team May 14 at Legends Stadium.
The Vikings took 18 shots in the contest. Burke Healy scored two goals, while Jack Schell and Ryan Morgan each hit the twine once. Healy and Morgan each garnered an assist.
Cape goalie Mason Trench made 10 stops.
“We did not clear the ball very well against their ride, and Salesianum took advantage of that,” said Cape coach Geoff Shupard. “I thought our offense did a good job giving themselves chances with good shots on goal, but we had trouble finishing. The good thing is that these are fixable problems, and we will work hard on them for the rest of the season.”
The Vikings honored 2008 graduate and Delaware Player of the Year Scott Brozey, who died in a pedestrian accident in 2016. A silent auction and raffles were held to raise funds for the Scott Brozey Lead by Example Memorial Scholarship, which is given to a player who is going to live his dream of playing collegiate lacrosse.
The Vikings will play at Sussex Academy in the Henlopen Conference Championship at noon, Saturday, May 18.
