The Cape football team took to the turf of Legends Stadium Aug. 22, to face a tough Appoquinimink squad in its final tune-up for the season opener on the road against Red Lion Thursday, Aug. 29.
“Appo is looking like a strong team this year,” said Cape coach Mike Frederick. “And this was a good challenge both from a physicality standpoint and athletically. Bottom line: We need to improve our tackling and eliminate the big plays, or it won’t matter who we play. But we did see some improvement in those areas from last week. We need to keep after the fundamentals. A lot of new faces on defense will only improve with live reps. On offense, we continue to do some things well, but we saw the penalties bite us again this week. We are working tirelessly to get those things cleaned up.
“It’s a great challenge this week against a terrific Red Lion team, so we are hoping the very challenging scrimmage schedule will have helped us get ready.”
All tickets are $5 and can be bought at the stadium.
