The Cape girls’ tennis squad dropped a 5-0 match to Caesar Rodney April 14, suffering just the second loss of the season.
Riders first-singles player Gracie Clark defeated Cape junior Dilyla Rohls 6-0, 6-0. Cape second-singles player Kathryn Costello dropped a 6-0, 6-0 match to the Riders’ Ava Vu. Cape’s Julia DiSabatino fell to Noelle Snyder 6-2, 6-3 in the third-singles match.
Cape’s first-doubles team of Mya DiSabatino and Kortney Kosc fell to CR’s Pia Patel and Adrianna Kelsea Vu 6-1, 6-0; the second-doubles duo of Ailene Corey and Anika Sekhri was beaten by Caesar Rodney’s Anaila Campbell and Addisyn Caskey 6-4, 6-1.
“CR is always a tough team up and down their lineup,” said Cape coach Rich Rasa. “I thought our girls did very well against a very tough and skilled opponent. As I’ve said to our team, we learn a lot more from our losses and make our course corrections so that we continue to improve our game. We have half our matches ahead of us, so it was a good time to play a very talented team. I am very proud of our girls and how they approach tough matches, and what they do to learn from the experience.”
