In addition to the day trips it offers each month, the Cape Henlopen Senior Center has planned some exciting overnight excursions for community members who are age 50 and older.
The November trip, Christmas in the Smokies, will depart Monday, Nov. 10. The cost includes five nights’ lodging, five breakfasts and three dinners along with three morning shows and three evening performances. There will also be free time scheduled to walk around in historic downtown Gatlinburg, Tenn.
Christmas in New York City will depart Monday, Dec. 1, and includes a performance by the Rockettes with a backstage tour of Radio City Music Hall. There will also be a guided tour of Lower Manhattan including its famous Little Italy and Chinatown neighborhoods. The cost covers two nights’ lodging, two breakfasts and one dinner.
Gaslight & Gingerbread is a sparkling seaside holiday trip to Cape May, N.J., that will begin Wednesday, Dec. 10. The itinerary includes a tour of the 1879 Physick Estate, a trolley tour of the historic district and the Holly Trolley Lights Tour of Cape May. Two nights’ lodging, two breakfasts and two dinners are included in the trip price.
Bloom Time is a spring trip to Washington, D.C., starting Wednesday, March 25. The cost covers three nights’ lodging, three breakfasts, two dinners and a lunch cruise on the Potomac River. There will be guided monument and memorial tours including Arlington National Cemetery, and the Library of Congress and Smithsonian Institute museums are also on the itinerary.
Those interested in traveling abroad can sign up for the Explore Tuscany tour that begins Tuesday, April 14. The cost includes seven nights’ lodging, seven breakfasts and three dinners. The itinerary includes Highlights of Montecatini Terme, a family-owned winery experience at Lucca, Florence, Pisa, a cooking class, a cheese farm, Siena and San Gimignano.
Seniors can celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary with the Sail 250 Virginia & Norfolk Harborfest, which departs Wednesday, June 17. The price covers four nights’ lodging, four breakfasts, three lunches and four dinners. Excursion highlights include witnessing the Tall Ship parade, and tours of the Virginia State Capitol, Colonial Williamsburg and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.
