Cape Henlopen Support Staff Association and district finalize contract
The Cape Henlopen School District and the Cape Henlopen Support Staff Association announced the successful completion of contract negotiations for the upcoming term.
Highlighting a strong partnership built on open communication, mutual respect and a shared commitment to students and staff, the agreement was reached efficiently and amicably within two days.
The approved agreement includes fair and competitive compensation, and a continued investment in professional development.
“This was one of the most productive and positive bargaining processes we’ve experienced,” said Dr. Jenny Nauman, Cape district superintendent. “Our support professionals are the backbone of our schools, and this contract reflects the district’s appreciation for their critical role in student success. It was such a pleasure working with them to reach this agreement.”
Union representatives echoed that sentiment, applauding the district’s approach to collaboration. “We’re grateful for the respectful dialogue and the willingness on both sides to come to the table with solutions,” said Drew Messick, CHSSA president. “This contract is a win for our members, our students and the entire school community.”
The agreement, approved by both the union membership and the board of education, went into effect July 1, and will remain in place through June 30, 2029.
Together, the entire Cape Henlopen School District and CHSSA remain committed to fostering a positive and supportive working environment that enables staff to thrive and students to succeed.
