Cape High yearbook team wins Best Design Award

August 23, 2011

Seven yearbook editors and their adviser, Amie King, recently made the trek to Gettysburg College for Josten’s Yearbook Camp.

Deante Bland, Denise Pizzola, Isabelle Russell, Alex Lewis, Steven Gebbia, Morgan Kaplan and Daniel Myers worked hard completing the planning stages of the 2012 Valhalla yearbook. They went to general sessions about topics, theme, and coverage. The eight of them went to a combined total of 12 workshops on all facets of yearbook design, content and marketing.

The final day at camp, an awards ceremony was held, and the Cape team won the Best Design Award. This is the first award that the Valhalla yearbook staff has won. The 2012 yearbook theme is The End is A New Beginning. It not only is a spoof on the 2012 apocalypse, but a meaning in real life. The end of each grade, and especially of high school, is really just the beginning of something new.
