Cape hockey plays nine games on back-to-back days

Games 25 minutes with mandatory water breaks
August 30, 2021

Cape field hockey players survived nine games over back-to-back play days in crazy hot weather.

The games were each 25 minutes with mandatory water breaks built into the competition. Coach Katie Austin said: “Injury free for the most part. We just have a couple we need to get back to full strength. It was a tough weekend with nine games over two days, but we got to see a lot of different combinations to see who we can put on the field together to be most successful. Definitely saw different levels of competition, so I think we have a pretty good idea of where this team can go with their talent.”

Cape hosted a play day Friday, then played down in Pocomoke Saturday.

The Vikings will open the season Friday, Sept. 10, hosting Pocomoke at Champions Stadium, then play Our Lady of Good Counsel Saturday, Sept. 11. Delmar is the other Delaware team that was part of the two-day bistate challenge with Maryland.
