The Cape Junior League All-Stars fell behind 11-0 in the first two innings against the combined Laurel/Nanticoke/Woodbridge squad and couldn’t get back on their feet, as the three-town team went on to secure an 18-1 five-inning victory in the opening round of the District 3 tournament July 13 in Millsboro.
Ben Pribulick slammed the only hit for Cape. Nick Petito had two stolen bases, while Pribulick had one.
Robbie Payton started on the mound for the Cape squad. Cole Speakman, Petito, Kane Andrews and Kellen Adams came in from the bullpen in relief. They teamed for six strikeouts.
LNW had 12 hits in the contest. Alex Condos started on the mound. Matt Givens, Elvis Millaway and Taytum Tull came in for relief. They teamed for 11 strikeouts.
Cape will play the loser of the game between Lower Sussex and Millsboro Friday, July 15, in Millsboro.

He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
