Cape Junior Pee Wee cheerleaders win Henlopen competition

Two Cape Vikings Pop Warner cheerleading teams have advanced to regionals in Trenton, N.J.

Junior Pee Wees (ages 8-11) took first place at the Henlopen Cheer Competition at Smyrna High School, while the Mitey-Mites squad placed second in its division. 

The Mitey-Mites (ages 7-9) will compete in regionals Saturday, Nov. 2, while the Junior Pee Wees will head to New Jersey Saturday, Nov. 9. Each competition will be held at the CURE Insurance Arena. 

Erica Misener, former cheerleader for Cape Henlopen High School and University of Delaware, was asked to coach the Junior Pee Wee team in August. The last time Junior Pee Wees won first place was in 2015.

Mitey-Mites coach Amanda Johnson is also a first-year coach.

The Tiny-Mite cheerleading team (ages 5-7) also competed in Smyrna.

Junior Pee Wee cheerleaders include: Sophia Baugh, Elena Booth, Kaedyn Brach, Alysia Buell, Gianna Buell, McKenzie Farkas, Zariah Handy, Madison Harpster, Anejah Johnson-Grace, Ariel Lloyd, Madyson Morgan, McKenzi Morgan, Chanelle Parker, LeahMarie Robinson-Sheehan and Massey Wilkins. Junior Pee Wee coaches include head coach Erica Misener and assistants Kylee Harrigan-Ferro and Melissa Rodriguez.

Mitey-Mite cheerleaders include: Kayonia Ayers, Bianca Booth, Kyleigh Carrigg, Janiyah Dukes, Lacy Gamble, Gracelyn Gregg, Deven Harpster, Elizabeth Hogan, Natalie Horsey, Joya Jackson, Malia Jackson, Kinley Johnson, Lilah Kurdes, Serinity Lamb, Sage McMahon, Tanaj Phillips, Aubrey Rajotte, Emily Rajotte, Kaila Ross, Michela Sartori, Jorja Truitt, Arrianna Wall, Hayley Wilson and Raven Wolf. Mitey-Mite coaches include head coach Amanda Johnson, junior coach Evie Hogan and assistant coach Cindy Rajotte.
