Cape lax runs the field and clock at Central

The Cape boys’ lacrosse team scored 21 goals and allowed none in a dominating win at Sussex Central March 28 in Georgetown. 

The Central team was out manned by the team ranked 18th in the nation, but they never gave up with their effort. 

The Vikings jumped to a 15-0 first-quarter lead and went into the halftime at 17-0. The second half started with the Vikings getting the running clock and finishing the game 21-0. 

Cape senior Grant Conway scored six goals. Senior Ryan Morgan added three. Pierce Conway and Landon Cieniewicz cranked two. Braddock Smith, Liam Crotty, AJ Grapski, Carter Nemcic, Mathew Popovich, Patrick Healy, David Adilin and Thomas Draper also hit the twine for a goal.

Popovich, Brenner Short and Conway were credited with two assists, while Nemcic, Grapski and Baddock Smith each had one.

Junior goalie Patrick Little made three saves to preserve the shutout. 

Cape will play Bullis School of Maryland Tuesday, March 31.

Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016.
