The Cape hockey team rolls into Rullo Stadium for a Division I semifinal showdown with Milford on the heels of going Ducks Unlimited on visiting Odessa 12-0 Nov. 2.
Milford survived a scare Nov. 2, beating Polytech 3-2. The semifinal game will be at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7. The second semifinal at 6 p.m. features Smyrna and Charter School of Wilmington.
Smyrna was a 10-0 winner over St. Georges, while Charter shut out Middletown 8-0.
Cape led Odessa 5-0 after one period and went on to amass 34 shots on goal while allowing none. They also racked up 27 penalty corners.
Ten different players scored for Cape, with nine of 12 goals assisted.
Scoring goals for Cape were Devon DeGregory and Atia Sabbagh each with two, and single scores from Grace Wiggins, Avary Miller, Lulu Rishko, Addy Basile, Carrie Clausius, Hannah Maney, Lexi Nowakowski and Emily Wells.
Assists were garnered by Basile with two, and Wiggins, Rishko, Macy Steinwedel, Maney, DeGregory, Wells and Sabbagh with one apiece.
Cape defeated Milford 6-2 Sept. 28. Cape enters the semifinals with an overall record of 15-1, while Milford is 14-2. Smyrna at 15-1 faces an 11-5 Charter team.
The Division I state championship final is set for 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, at the University of Delaware. The Division II championship final will begin at noon.
