Cape school board election not needed

Incumbents Maull-Martin, Myers unopposed by filing deadline
March 4, 2024

A school board election will not be needed in Cape Henlopen School District this year, as incumbents Janet Maull-Martin and Alison Myers were the only candidates to enter the race by the March 1 filing deadline.

State officials confirmed March 4 that no one else had filed to run in the election that had been set for March 26. The candidates’ terms go into effect in July 2024 and expire June 30, 2028.

First elected in 2019, Maull-Martin represents Area C, which encompasses the greater Lewes area. A 1970 Cape High grad, Maull-Martin was a teacher, Title One coordinator and administrator throughout her 35-year career with the district.

A former special education teacher, Myers was first elected to her at-large seat in 2014 and re-elected in 2019. Board vice president from 2015-18, she has served as president since 2018.
