The soccer game between the Spartans and the Vikings couldn’t have gotten any closer, as Cape and Lake Forest battled to a scoreless tie in Henlopen Conference action April 18 at Champions Stadium.
The Vikings outshot the Spartans 16-9, with both goalies turning in shutout performances. Cape’s Brianna Burrell made nine stops, while Lake’s Alexis Hutson made 15 saves.
“Tonight’s match was disappointing, as I felt we were the better team,” said Cape coach Patrick Kilby. “We created more quality chances. The result was not from a lack of effort, rather a lack of execution.”
The Vikings move to 3-3-1 on the season, while the Spartans are 1-4-1.
