The rain and chilly air didn’t dampen the spirits of Cape soccer fans Oct. 22, as the Vikings celebrated seven seniors during the game with Polytech. But the Panthers squeaked by with a 1-0 victory at Legends Stadium.
The match was scoreless until the 73rd minute, when the Panthers were awarded a penalty kick. Polytech junior midfielder Dermot Williamson put it past Cape goalie Forest Dotterer for the lone score.
Each team took six shots on goal. Cape held a 6-5 corner kick advantage.
Cape moves to 6-5-2 on the season, while the Panthers are 9-2-3.
The Vikings were set to travel to Milford Thursday, Oct. 24, to face the Northern Division foe. They finish the regular season Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Charter.
