The Vikings are 7-4-2 on the season. They’re battling to finish with the nine wins it will take to possibly put them on the state tournament draw sheet.
Evan Burris scored the first goal just three minutes into the contest off a pass from Seth Benjamin. The Vikings went into the halftime break with the 1-0 advantage.
Donnacha Hefferan took a centering pass from Brady Spiegel and left-footed it into the twine past Milford keeper Fernando Flores at 46 minutes to add a little insurance.
Cape kept Flores busy, taking 17 shots in the match. On the other end, Cape goalie Jake Hutchison made three saves.
“I’m very pleased to still be unbeaten in the Henlopen North,” said Cape head coach Patrick Kilby. “We have turned the remaining four games of the season into a four-game tournament. We started with Dover; that was our first-round game. We continued with Milford, a quarterfinal matchup. We have Sussex Tech left for the semis, and if we win that, we can consider Sussex Central the championship match. We feel that if we earn a result in these two remaining games, we will qualify for the state tournament.”
The Vikings will host the Sussex Tech Ravens Tuesday, Oct. 22, for Senior Night.
