Cape takes down Dover 66-3 on Teacher Appreciation Night

The Teacher Appreciation Night recognition introduction took longer than the match that followed, as the Cape wrestling team took down visiting Dover in the Big House gym 66-3. 

Dover forfeited six of 14 weight classes. 

“We are entering a tough week where we wrestle both William Penn and Delaware Military on Saturday, then host Caesar Rodney on Wednesday,” said coach Chris Mattioni. 

Cape got a closing pin at 165 from Connor Kugelmann (3:55), exciting the crowd as they exited by the blue doors. 

Cape wins by pin included 175, Jeffrey Rainier ( 3:03); 120, Cale Baker (.19); and 132, Max Meadows (1:20). 

Malyki Holtzman of Dover decisioned Luke Arnold-Decyk 4-0 at 190, Tripp Gannon won by tech fall at 126, Colin Poulas won 8-2 at 138, and Brady Cole won by a 15-3 major decision at 157 pounds.
