Cape unified basketball celebrates seniors

February 16, 2026

The Cape unified basketball squad celebrated the Class of 2026 players during its 45-38 loss to Appoquinimink Feb. 12 at home. The Vikings move to 2-7-1, while the Jags are 3-2.

Graduating this year are Danny Gartman, Logan Felker, Erichson McMahon, Zane Richardson and Ronnie Leroy.

“Senior Night was awesome,” said Cape head coach Katie Collick. “We will be graduating five seniors this year, and we will miss them. Appo is such a great team to play, and they enjoy the spirit of the game. With it being Senior Night, it was great to watch Logan Felker and Erichson McMahon get their first two points ever. Everyone was cheering and excited, and the gym was electric.”

Cape sophomore Norman Rust led all scorers with 10 points. Sophomore Jwalit Patel and Jaxon Benton dropped six each. Senior Zane Richardson added five. X Zimmer, Logan Felker, Julian Puente, Dan Gartman, Erichson McMahon and Robert Harman-Strike each scored a bucket.

“It was some of the most fun I’ve had all year,” said Felker. “They were a good team and it was just a lot of fun to play against them.”

“I thought the game was really fun,” said Cape’s Austin Hastings. “We started slow, but we came back in the second half. We really clicked then.”

“It’s more fun to get the assist than to score,” said McMahon. “The smiles on the players’ faces tell it all.”

Freshman Hamza Furat led the Jags with 21 points.

Cape travels to Polytech Tuesday, Feb. 17, for the Panthers’ Senior Night.
