November 14, 2019

Worcester Prep girls’ soccer coach Carol Hartnett of Bethany Beach was recently named girls’ fall sports Coach of the Year for the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference. She was selected by the athletic directors in the conference.

“I am so proud to receive this honor, and I dedicate it to my team for their incredible effort and enthusiasm,” said Hartnett. “I would not have this award without them.”

In Hartnett’s 25 years of teaching physical education at WPS, she has coached multiple competitive girls’ teams including basketball, field hockey, lacrosse and soccer. This year, she closed out her 21st season coaching WPS soccer as ESIAC regular-season champs with a record of 6-1-1.

She has now won Coach of the Year four times, previously winning for soccer in 2004 and 2009, and for lacrosse in 2006.

Founded in 1970, WPS is a private, independent prekindergarten through grade 12 school located in Berlin, Md. About 500 students attend from Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.  For more information about WPS, go to www.worcesterprep.org or call 410-641-3575.
