U.S. Sen. Tom Carper visited Milton Sept. 23 to tour local businesses, while also receiving an early retirement gift from the Milton Chamber of Commerce.
Carper, who will retire at the end of his current term in 2024 after 40-plus years of public service in Delaware, was presented with a special plaque in recognition of his service to Sussex County and Milton.
“The gift has a carving of the great seal of Delaware and carved thank-you message on the back,” said Falk, noting the plaque was created by Margo Mitchell, owner of Happy Camper Designs. “When I commissioned Margo to create this gift in July, Margo decided to make this a gift from her as well, as a way to thank Sen. Carper.”
Besides the plaque, Carper walked through Milton’s central business area, talking shop with the owners of GGA Construction, Zava Cafe and SipUrban Farmhouse.
