Catching up on the Gazette with the Carrara marble giants looking on

A group of neighbors from Bay Pointe spent 10 days traveling through Italy, visiting Milan, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Florence, Bologna and Venice. While in Tuscany, they toured the Carrara marble quarries, following the rugged off‑road paths carved into the mountains by quarry workers as they extracted the prized stone. Carrara marble has been used by many renowned artists, including Michelangelo, who selected it for masterpieces such as the Pietà and the Statue of David.
