Change in leadership for Rehoboth Beach Main Street
Rehoboth Beach Main Street, an organization focused on promoting downtown, has announced a change in leadership to the board of directors – Richard Byrne has taken over for Greer Maneval as president.
Greer had been president of Main Street for four years, during which she oversaw a 10-fold growth in membership and several successful programs – Rehoboth in Bloom, Community Unity Dinner, Gumbo Crawl, and the Town and Cottage Awards.
Byrne, a former city commissioner, said he is a big supporter of evaluation and learning from what an organization is doing. He said he believes in a servant leadership approach – supporting and advocating but not micromanaging or getting in the way.
“It’s not as easy to be impactful as it is to be busy,” said Byrne.
Byrne said he wants to focus on outcomes that are beneficial to Main Street members and the city. He said he wants the Main Street Advisory Council to be meaningful so the organization can learn much from business owners and people with specific expertise.
