Charles Dickens’ descendant to perform ‘A Christmas Carol’ Dec. 10

December 9, 2021

Gerald Dickens, a great-great-grandson of Charles Dickens, will perform his adaptation of “A Christmas Carol,” Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale, at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 10, at the Lewes Public Library.

The performance features over 30 characters, brought vividly to life by Dickens’ vocal and physical talents.

An actor, director and producer, Gerald Dickens created his adaption of “A Christmas Carol” in 1993 and has since written and directed additional one-man shows including “Mr. Dickens is Coming!” “Nicholas Nickleby” and “Sketches by Boz.”

Dickens regularly performs in major theaters and arts centers, and at arts and literary festivals, as well as at hotels and on cruise ships.

The program is presented by the Lewes Public Library Spoken Word Society and Shakespeare Festival, supported in part by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

Byers' Choice Ltd., a handcraft gift company based in Pennsylvania, is hosting Gerald Dickens’ visit to the United States.
