Lindsay Ann Barnes, faithful servant, cherished by many
Lindsay Ann Barnes passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Beebe Healthcare. She was born at the very same hospital Nov. 25, 1992. As locals say, a Beebe baby.
Lindsay graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 2011 as a member of the National Honor Society. She attended High Point University in North Carolina, where she was a member of the Phi Mu Fraternity and its philanthropy, Children's Miracle Network.
She later transferred to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. She was described by friends, coworkers, and family as a beautiful person inside and out. She was compassionate while working as a medical technician/patient care coordinator in the emergency room at Beebe Medical Center. After moving to Arkansas, she worked at White River Healthcare Systems-Senior Haven in Batesville, caring for patients in the memory unit. She then moved to Raleigh, N.C., where she became a certified chiropractic assistant and certified X-ray technician for Crabtree Chiropractic Center, a job that she loved all aspects of, including all the patients she assisted as well as her coworkers. Medical issues brought her back to her hometown in Delaware, where she resided with her parents and beloved rescue dog, Molly.
Lindsay was baptized and confirmed at Lewes Presbyterian Church, where she and her parents attended and were members for many years. She sang in the choir. She attended and then served as a crew leader in the Kids for Christ program as well as Vacation Bible School, as she loved children, and they, in turn, loved her.
In 2020, the family was led to worship and become members of Long Neck Methodist Church. She continued to serve as a crew leader in Vacation Bible School there as well.
She rooted for the Chicago Bears, an avid fan of football, and often enjoyed teasing her pastor each year about how her team was going to be so much better than his Green Bay Packers.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jean and Joseph Barnes; her uncle, Joey Barnes; and her maternal grandfather, Anthony Lorah.
She is survived by her parents, Denise and Robert Barnes; her sister, Elizabeth; her maternal grandmother, Margaret Lorah; uncle, David, his wife Bobbi Jo, and their children Josh, Hailey and Kayla Lorah; aunt, Myrna Barnes; aunt, Judy Bunnell, uncle and aunt, Jim and Beth Barnes; cousins Chris and Donna Barnes, their children Matthew, Morgan and Jenna; cousins, Becky Buchalla, her husband Markus, and their daughter Lena, and Shane Bunnell; and her beloved Molly dog.
She loved her sorority sister and best friend, Aly LeonGuerrero, and the love of her life, Rick Rumble, who supported her during her lengthy illness, giving her hope, joy, and love in her most difficult journey over the past few years.
She greatly appreciated all the prayers that surrounded her and truly was grateful, as were her parents, for the love and support of church family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held with visitation beginning at noon, Saturday, June 14, at Long Neck Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, followed by the service at 1 p.m. A reception will follow immediately after the service in the church hall.
Flowers are welcome. For those wanting to contribute in her memory, she had a heart for all animals, especially dogs, and would be pleased to have donations go to Hill Hounds Rescue & Animal Sanctuary, 531-C Fleetwood Road, Denton, MD 21629.
