Charles Ira Sensenig, 86, of Lewes, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at Bay Harbor Nursing Home in Salisbury, Md.

Charles was born in Coatesville, Pa., to Bertha and Thomas Sensenig March 11, 1939. He graduated from Coatesville High School and soon thereafter joined the U.S. Army, where he served for more than two years. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed at the Weaver, then Tyson poultry processing plant in New Holland, Pa., where he launched his primary career, ending in upper management after many years.

Charles had a secondary career as a server in fine dining restaurants, notably The Farmhouse in Toughkenamon, Pa., and The Buttery in Lewes, where he was also ultimately in management. He loved his work and the people he served!

Charles also had many interests and hobbies. One was keeping a fish pond stocked with koi and other fish, the first at his home in West Grove, Pa., and a second, larger one at his first home in Lewes.

Charles was also renowned for his cheesecakes, especially during the winter holidays, but also year-round.

Charles loved animals and over the years kept dogs, cats, peacocks, goats and other pets. He loved horses.

Charles is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Betty Ann; his son, Charles Jr.; three grandchildren: Savannah, Tristan and Wyatt; and his best friend during the past 28 years, Richard McReynolds of Rehoboth Beach.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m.
