Children’s Learning Garden activities start June 17

June 10, 2022

Lewes in Bloom Children’s Learning Garden activities will begin with a Peter Rabbit show at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 17, in Stango Park on Kings Highway in downtown Lewes.

Except for July 4, story hour will be held at 10:30 a.m. every Monday, June 13 to Aug. 22. Afterward, little ones will stroll through the garden to pick fruits and vegetables to take home.

Except for July 1, Lewes in Bloom will offer a variety of programs for children to learn more about their world at 10:30 a.m., Fridays, June 17 to Aug. 26. Topics include beneficial bugs, the ocean, and local fruits and vegetables. After the program, children can visit the garden to check out what is growing and what is ready to pick.

All activities start at 10:30 and last about 90 minutes. Participants are asked to bring a blanket, towel or mat to sit on for a brief portion of the time. There is no need to sign up in advance.

The Children’s Learning Garden was started in 2013, and over the years, it has grown to be a major attraction for area children. In 2021, the Children’s Learning Garden won the Youth Gardening Award from America in Bloom.
