I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the residents of Sussex County for allowing me the privilege to serve on the Sussex County Board of Adjustment. Since my appointment in 2019 by Councilman I.G. Burton, I have worked diligently on behalf of our community, including the past three years as chair.
This role has been both an honor and a responsibility I have taken seriously. I am grateful to County Administrator Todd Lawson, I.G. Burton, former Councilman Mark Schaeffer, and Councilwoman Jane Gruenbaum for their confidence and support over the last six years. I also want to recognize the outstanding individuals I’ve had the pleasure of working with on the board: Ellen Magee, Brent Workman, Jordan Warfel, Travis Hastings, Kevin Carson, John Williamson, Shawn Lovenguth, board attorney Jamie Sharp, Jenny Norwood and the dedicated staff in the Planning & Zoning Office.
To my wife, Molly, and daughters, Lucy and Lainey, thank you for your patience and unwavering support.
As I conclude this chapter, I want to wish Lauren A. Hitchens all the best as she steps into her new role on the board this July. Having known her personally for two decades, I’m confident she will serve our county with thoughtfulness and integrity.
