Christina Dazio Barsness-Long, caring, generous spirit
Christina “Chrissy” Dazio Barsness-Long, 54, of Delaware, formerly of Coatesville, Pa., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025. Born Feb. 4, 1971, she lived a life marked by perseverance, accomplishment, and boundless love.
A proud graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High School, Chrissy went on to earn degrees from Louisiana State University and Penn State University. An accomplished athlete in her youth, she swam for Team Foxcatcher and competed in the 1988 U.S. Olympic Trials, a highlight of her early years.
Chrissy built a distinguished career in the steel industry, ultimately serving as vice president for Specialty Metals Group in Florida. Known for her intelligence, leadership, and tenacity, she earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Beyond her professional and athletic achievements, Chrissy will be remembered most for her caring, generous spirit. She was a deeply loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, always willing to give of herself to those around her. Despite enduring years of health struggles following a devastating car accident, she faced life with resilience and courage.
She is survived by her loving mother, Sandra Dazio; her brother, Joseph Dazio; her aunts, Joann Clay and Lois Reece; her uncle, Michael Dazio; and her nieces, Lauren McCann and Alyssa Dazio. Chrissy was preceded in death by her father, Joseph H. Dazio Jr.; and her husbands, Erick Barsness and Stafford Long.
Her warmth, kindness, and remarkable spirit touched everyone she met, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. She will be missed beyond measure.
