A large crowd was on hand Dec. 11 for the first Good Ole Boy Foundation living nativity on The Circle in downtown Georgetown. The event will take place every night from 6 to 8 p.m. through Christmas Eve, with volunteers from local churches participating as nativity characters. The stable and manger were built by volunteers with assistance from Dukes Lumber Co. in Laurel.

Donations are being accepted for Sussex Pregnancy Center and Sussex County Foster Parents Association. Go to the Good Ole Boy Foundation Facebook page to see a list of needed items.

The foundation rallied churches and volunteers after the Town of Georgetown changed its policy for displays on The Circle. The traditional nativity scene placed there each year by Georgetown Wesleyan Church was prohibited because unattended private displays are no longer permitted.

Hot chocolate and cookies are available, and each night, children who attend the event will have chances to win a prize.
