February 27, 2019

Trio Casals is returning to Lewes for the third consecutive year to perform at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Second and Market streets, at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 3.

The trio - cellist Ovidiu Marinescu, violinist Sylvia Ahramjian and pianist Anna Kislitsyna - will present a program of classical music, much of which will be performed by Marinescu and Kislitsyna on their tour of China beginning March 8.

T.J. Thomas, director of music at St. Peter’s, will accompany the trio on organ and piano.

The musicians will present Jan Bastiaans’ arrangements of Melodic Offerings on J.S. Bach for piano, organ, violin and cello, followed by Russian ballet music with selections from “The Nutcracker,” “Romeo and Juliet” and “Petrushka.”

Concluding the performance will be Anton Arensky’s romantic chamber composition, Piano Trio in D minor for violin, cello and piano.

The concert is one of a series offered by the church’s St. Cecilia Guild to bring high-quality musical events to eastern Sussex County. All St. Cecilia events are free, but a goodwill offering is appreciated.
