Colin Schmidt lost 42 pounds in 12 weeks to win the Schell Brothers Biggest Loser

May 25, 2018

When Colin Schmidt left a career in law enforcement to be a construction manager at Schell Brothers, he was looking for a change. He had no idea his new job would also inspire him to take control of his health and transform his body. But that’s exactly what happened when he signed up for this year’s Schell Brothers Biggest Loser contest. After three months, he not only dramatically changed his appearance, but also won the contest with excellent results.

“When I was a police officer, I worked shift work, and it was hard to watch my diet because I was always working days and nights, and it was difficult to prepare and stay with a plan,” he said.

So when he heard how Schell Brothers offers a contest to incentivize employees to get in shape, he figured it might be a great way to start a healthier lifestyle.

“I had gained a lot of weight, but didn’t realize how bad it really was, and when the opportunity presented itself, I figured, what do I have to lose other than extra weight I didn’t need.”

Colin had tried to get in shape many times before, but each time he would go hard for about three to four weeks and end up getting injured; he never really achieved the results he wanted. However, this time he decided to hire Antonio’s Training to guide him through the process, so we enrolled him in our 12-week body transformation to help him reach his goals. The rest is history.

“When I committed to do the contest and pay the cost of hiring a trainer, I made up my mind that I would follow the program and diet 100 percent to be sure that I wasn’t wasting my time and money,” he said.

And it wasn’t long before it became obvious that not only was his body changing quickly, but Colin had an excellent chance to win the contest.

During the program, Colin was required to send a weekly check-in and report his progress. In response, we tweaked his workout to make it more difficult and manipulated variables to stimulate his metabolism to burn fat stores as energy. Due to the fact that he followed the diet with precision, his results began to add up, and Colin lost an average of three to four pounds a week without fail for the entire 12 weeks.

“At first, I was shocked by how little I was required to do to get results, but as the workout progressed, it became much more challenging. It was always something that I could successfully complete without risk of injury.”

Colin began to really notice his body changing, and his energy and performance in the gym had never been better. This only encouraged him to work harder.

“It got to the point where I was lifting at 4 in the morning. It was my time, and it relaxed me and allowed me to get things done before the day got busy.”

When the contest ended, Colin had lost a total of 42 pounds in 12 weeks. More importantly, he dropped his body fat from 31 percent to 16.8 percent, which means he lost 46.6 percent of his starting body fat, and he is now ripped and in the best shape of his life. Since he won the overall body fat division of the Schell Brothers Biggest Loser contest, he is now eligible to collect $500 a month for the next year as long as he can stay within 2 percent of his lowest body fat.

His dramatic body transformation is a great example that it’s never too late to make a life change. If you are willing to commit and pay the price, the sky is the limit. Congratulations, Colin, you did an incredible job!
