Comfort Inn Rehoboth named Construction Merit Award recipient
Comfort Inn Rehoboth Beach on Route 1 was selected as a Merit Award Winner for this year's Excellence in Construction Awards through the Delaware Chapter of the Association of Builders and Contractors. The three-story hotel was renovated by Grayson, Grayson & Associates of Middletown earlier this year.
The Comfort Inn, the first chain hotel in the Rehoboth area, has been open since 1996. The $1.5 million construction project was completed in less than six months and included significant challenges as the hotel was still fully operating with guests staying throughout the duration of the project.
Merit Award recipients are selected by a panel of judges who review construction project submissions from throughout Delaware, tour facilities in the field and consider a wide variety of construction and project elements. The accolade was awarded in a ceremony held in Wilmington last month.
The project, which met its construction schedule, included completely redesigning the exterior façade of the hotel. The hotel replaced its EFIS system, repainted the entire hotel using an upgraded color scheme, and replaced all the windows. The public areas of the hotel were also renovated to include a more contemporary lobby and business center, as well as a brand-new fitness center with upgraded cardiovascular equipment and free weights. The breakfast area was also remodeled to include more seating for hotel guests as well as more prep area for the hotel staff.
The hotel features 96 guest rooms, including three two-room suites. The guestrooms were renovated in 2012 and feature an earth tone décor with pale blue and rich chocolate tones with brand-new furniture and 37-inch flat-screen LG TVs. The hotel also now features DirecTV HD programming with more than 100 channels including free HBO as of October. Each room at the hotel also features a mini refrigerator and microwave.
