Community book club hosts talk with local author

November 30, 2025

Local writer Deb Griffin spoke with reading enthusiasts during a Nov. 12 author talk held at the Hawthorne community near Georgetown.

An active member of the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild and the Women’s Fiction Writers Association, Griffin discussed her debut novel, “Love, Lewes.” She said, “[The story] is a romantic comedy with a little bit of history and a little bit of mystery.”

In the book, a young woman who is navigating two recent losses meets a ghost in historic Lewes. “It’s about being seen for who you really are and becoming who you were meant to be,” she said.

Attendee spoke of how much they enjoyed reading a book with so many Lewes sites they recognized. Also in attendance was Greer Maneval, whose sketches are included in Griffin’s book.

The Hawthorne community has four book clubs whose leaders work together to sponsor quarterly author talks for their members. Talented local authors who are interested may contact Gale Deitch at gdeitch1@verizon.net.
