The annual Compassionate Friends Walk of Remembrance and Butterfly Release was held Sept. 13, at the pavilion in George H.P. Smith Park in Lewes. The walk is a special time of remembrance for families and friends whose children have died.
The event included a quiet walk around Blockhouse Pond, where its natural setting provided a special time of meditation and reconnection. It culminated with a gathering at the pavilion, where each family received a butterfly to be released in memory of their child or children.
When a child dies, at any age, the family suffers intense pain and may feel hopeless and isolated. Compassionate Friends provides highly personal comfort, hope and support to every family experiencing the death of a son or daughter, a brother or sister, or a grandchild, and helps others better assist the grieving family.
