Confusing time for the Phillies

August 2, 2019

Baseball:
In the National League, there are two teams who are clearly the best of the bunch; the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers. That is why a team like the Phillies, with mediocre pitching, could make the playoffs this year. And that is why I’m happy they did not try to trade for a top player like Madison Bumgarner from the San Francisco Giants.

They would have had to give up their good young players for a chance at a championship run. This Phillies team is at least two years away from that.

The Phillies are going to be in the wildcard chase for the remainder of the season, which is fine because it will at least make this September interesting for the first time in a while!

Football:
The first NFL preseason games start late this week. I think they are at least a week too soon because all the teams have only been practicing for 10 days. Since football is such a violent sport, I think the players deserve more time to get ready for actual games.

This will never happen, but the ticket prices for preseason games should be cut in half, because it is like a spring training baseball game. You never know who’s going to play, and for how long. Why even go to such games for that much money?

See you on the sidelines!
