Conley’s UMC offers online youth program

Children’s show format features lesson, music
March 11, 2021

Proving that necessity is the mother of invention, officials at Conley’s United Methodist Church have transitioned the church’s after-school program to a new online show for children.

For years before the pandemic, students attended Conley’s Youth Connection in person after school, the Rev. Dr. Bill Davis said, and church leaders had discussed offering the program virtually.

“This forced us to do it, and we will continue to offer it after the pandemic,” Davis said. “It’s the way to reach out to kids in the next generation.”

Youth and Family Ministries Director Jay Bachman agreed, saying, “During COVID, when families and kids can’t go to church, we want to bring church to them.”

Geared toward students in first through sixth grade, the online format is similar to a children’s show, Bachman said, featuring a biblical story, music, and lesson followed by meaningful questions for students to ponder.

The program is designed for a wide variety of churches and denominations, and concentrates on basic doctrines of the Christian faith.
