Wintry weather forces cancellations

A winter storm watch is forcing cancellations throughout the region. Check back often for updates. To submit a cancellation, email newsroom@capegazette.com.

•. Bayhealth has announced some delayed openings and cancelation of elective surgeries for Monday, Jan. 26.  Go to bayhealth.org/weather for a full list of weather-related closures and changes.

• There will be delayed openings across Beebe Healthcare outpatient services Monday, Jan. 26, to allow for any additional snow and ice removal. The following services will open at 10 a.m.: Primary and Specialty Care, Walk-In Care, Lab, Imaging, Physical Rehab, Oncology Services, Wound Care and Cape Pharmacy. Appointments can be converted to virtual as clinically appropriate. There is no delay for emergency departments. Scheduled surgical procedure and cardiac catheterizations for Beebe Outpatient Surgery Center, Specialty Surgical Hospital and the Lewes Campus will continue as planned unless a patient reschedules. Care teams are contacting patients to confirm appointments and procedures. In order to reduce the high volume of calls offices are receiving, consider using messaging through MyChart or wait for your clinician’s office to contact you.

• The Cape Henlopen Food Basket will be closed Monday, Jan. 26.

• Cape Henlopen School District schools will be closed Monday, Jan. 26.

• Delaware Tech campuses will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26. Online courses will proceed. College services and all instructors will be available remotely.

• Tonight’s Indian River School District Board of Education regular monthly meeting will be held virtually at approximately 7 p.m. Access the live stream links at irsd.net.

* The joint meeting of Lewes Mayor and City Council and Lewes Board of Public works set for 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26, at the Margaret H. Rollins Community Center has been moved to Mon. Feb. 2, at the same time and location.

• Millsboro Town Hall will be closed Monday, Jan. 26.

• Milton Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Kick Off event, set for Monday, Jan. 26, has been rescheduled for 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23, at Milton Theatre.

  • Milton Town Hall will be closed Monday, Jan. 26. 

• Mountaire’s Millsboro and Selbyville processing plants will be opening three hours late on Monday, Jan. 26.

• State of Delaware offices in all three counties will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26, during the regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nonessential employees are not to report to work for this period. Essential employees designated for severe weather are to report as scheduled.

• Sussex Academy campuses will be closed Monday, Jan. 26. This closure will count as the second of three inclement weather days built into the school calendar, and there will be no remote learning activities. 

• Sussex County government offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26. Additionally, the Board of Adjustment meeting scheduled for Monday night is postponed; items on the agenda will be rescheduled.

• Sussex County Vocational Technical School District will operate on a remote schedule Monday, Jan. 26.

• Town of Georgetown offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26. The scheduled town council meeting for 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26 is also canceled. Agenda items will be added to the Feb. 9 town council meeting.

•  All University of Delaware Osher Lifelong Learning Institute courses are canceled for Monday, Jan. 26. Read more about OLLI operations and course instruction at olli.udel.edu/weather. No in-person Associate in Arts Programs classes at UD campuses are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 26. AAP staff do not need to report.

* The City of Lewes has postponed the inaugural State of the Community forum, originally set for 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Lewes Elementary School. The forum will now be held Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the same time and location.
