Constance Barton Heckert, accomplished journalist
Constance Barton Heckert, 86, of Rockville, Md., passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born Oct. 8, 1932, in Springfield, Ill., daughter of the late Lester and Wilma Cornick.
Ms. Heckert graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in journalism and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Ms. Heckert was the owner and operator of Heckert Enterprises from 1990 until 2018. Ms. Heckert was also a proud travel writer, scribing about her trips to Europe, South America, Central America, Asia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Sub-saharan Africa. She even published as a freelance writer for the Tampa Bay Times, and more recently the Delaware News Journal.
Ms. Heckert is survived by her children: Leslie Barton Wolfe of Naperville, Ill., and Todd Cornick Barton of Marietta, Ga.; and sister Martha Cornick Gallo of Mashpee, Mass. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Taylor Elisabeth and Rebecca Caroline Wolfe and Robert, Karina and Wilken Barton.
Services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
