Cordelia Hopkins’ birthday celebrated at CHEER

December 16, 2018

Approximately 300 family and friends came from near and far Nov. 24 for the 90th birthday celebration honoring Cordelia Hopkins, a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

The event was held at the Georgetown CHEER Center, recognizing and honoring the matriarch of her family. Cordelia is the mother of 15 children, whom she raised as a single mother in Millsboro. Every day was not easy, but she always made sure her children, grandchildren and other family members were taken care of. From those children, she has been blessed with a host of 41 grandchildren and well over 100 great-grandchildren, plus a big family and friend circle that loves and adores her.

It is a true blessing to say that her family has been blessed with several sets of five generations. They honor her also for the role she plays in the lives of many.

Cordelia is a member of St. John 2nd Baptist Church, where she plays an important role there as well as in the community. Whether family or not, everybody knows "Mom Delia." When she is notified of a need, she does not rest until that need is met, no matter what.

Her official birthday is Dec. 5. God has blessed her to see this milestone. The work she does truly speaks for her.
