Corinne Rosenberg, loved family, friends
Corinne “Kitty” Rosenberg, 101, was born Sept. 23, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the third of six siblings, to Paul and Anna Salvage. She grew up in a close-knit, working-class family, spending time with her extended family on both sides, many of whom had immigrated from Eastern Europe. She died in Lewes, Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Kitty always loved school and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1941. She met Abe Rosenberg that year, and their relationship developed through the hundreds of letters they exchanged while Abe served in the Army for three years during WWII. They married Nov. 17, 1945, and spent 40 very happy years together until Abe’s untimely death in 1986.
They had two children, Warren, and Robin, whose rare extra-uterine birth was the first in medical history, where both the mother and child survived. Kitty had one grandchild, Jessica Ann, born in Indiana. After a number of years as a stay-at-home mom, Kitty worked for Sears in Far Rockaway, N.Y., and then for 19 years as head of the Copy Editing Department at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Manhattan, a job she loved.
Kitty’s all-encompassing love was for her family and friends. She always remembered birthdays and special occasions, sending cards to all without fail. She never flew or drove a car, preferring always to sit in the back seat, but she travelled on Amtrak to Florida, Indiana and Delaware, making friends along the way.
The charity that Kitty has supported her entire life, the Deborah Hospital Heart and Lung Center, offers free, cutting-edge medical care. In 2013, the Deborah Hospital Foundation recognized her organizing and fund raising efforts by naming her a Heart of Gold recipient for her lifetime commitment to the Hospital’s important work.
Kitty loved listening to music, dancing, watching Jeopardy, reading, solving crossword puzzles, playing cards, walking, cooking, any kind of shopping, and socializing with family and friends. In her final years, she loved spending time with Robin and Alan’s dog, Asti. Living near the ocean in Far Rockaway, N.Y., Delray Beach, Fla., and Millsboro gave her great pleasure, as well as vacationing in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania with the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Abe; brothers, Bernard Salvage (Evelyn) and Fred Salvage (Abby); and sisters, Ruth Kaplan (Sidney), Florence DeLeon (Arthur) and Marcella Steinberg (Alvin).
She is survived by her son, Warren (Julia); daughter, Robin (Alan Lowe); her granddaughter, Jessica Ann; step-grandchildren, Bryan, Heather and Kevan, step-great-grandchildren, Allison, Bryan Alan and Sarah; and many beloved nephews and nieces.
Her family would like to thank Avis Henry for her loving care of Kitty at daughter Robin and son-in-law Alan’s home, where Kitty lived in later years, and to the wonderful staff at The Lodge at Historic Lewes for warmly supporting her during the final months of her life.
