Cowboys deal blackjack on Eagles, score 21 in three minutes in 38-23 victory

The full field flag in Philly was refolded six ways from Sunday after the singing of the national anthem, a coin was tossed and Dallas elected deferment, if you catch my draft.

The home crowd was hopped up for 60 minutes of “Fire Andy Frenzy” focused on his dog Vick off the chain and running for his life inside his own yard.

The Birds took the ball and marched 80 yards in 10 plays and scored on a Riley Cooper 2-yard acrobatic catch.

The much-maligned Dallas offense responded with an 80-yard, 13-play touchdown drive that ate up most of the remaining first-quarter clock and tied the game at 7.

The second quarter saw the Eagles lose both Michael Vick (concussion) and Jason Avant (hamstring).

A Dan Bailey field goal made the halftime score 10-7 Dallas.

Nick Foles was at the controls in the second half but the Cowboys don’t pressure him, because that’s just what the Eagles are expecting them to do. Foles finds a camped all alone at the goal line Jeremy Macklin for a 4-yard touchdown strike and a 14-10 Eagles lead. Dallas is playing like an NBA team that knows it can wake up and win at the end.

The Eagles came back with a 40-yard Alex Henery field goal to lead 17-10. The Cowboys had the Eagles right where they wanted them.

The Boyz exploded for 21 points in under three minutes, highlighted by a diving touchdown reception of 30 yards by Dez Bryant, a punt return of 78 yards by Dwayne Harris and a Brandon Carr 47-yard interception return for a touchdown.

The score ballooned to 31-17; the crowd headed toward home, and the final score was 38-23.

Destiny is beyond human control; it just happens, and it was happening to the Eagles like it has been all season.

Philosopher Andy Reid said, “You don’t worry about the things you can’t control. You worry about the things you can.”

The Eagles dropped their fifth straight game for the first time in Andy Reid’s 14-year tenure as head coach. The Eagles dropped to  3-6 on the season and play at Washington Sunday, Nov. 18.
