The Rehoboth Beach Film Society's Cinema and Art series presents a screening of the art-related documentary, “Curious Worlds: The Art and Imagination of David Beck,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at The Metropolitan Community Church, 19369 Plantation Road in Rehoboth.
A reception with light refreshments will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the film screening at 7 p.m., and a post-screening discussion will follow the conclusion of the film. This event is co-sponsored by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society and the Rehoboth Art League.
In her latest documentary, Olympia Stone pulls back the curtain on one of America’s most accomplished and original working artists, David Beck. A modern Renaissance man, he’s the only living artist to have had three solo exhibits at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and his work is sought after by private collectors across the country.
A skilled woodworker, sculptor, painter and master mechanic, Beck creates lilliputian-sized people, animals and scenes that both delight and awe. His pieces have been shown at both the MET and the Guggenheim. A post film discussion will be led by renowned local artist Lee Mills.
Pre-registration is required due to limited seating and for food count purposes. Tickets are $15 each and include pre-screening refreshments and the film screening. To purchase tickets, go to www.rehobothfilm.com or call 302-645-9095, Ext.1. Please note that tickets are non-refundable.
