DAR Minority Real Estate Scholarship applications due Oct. 15
The Delaware Association of Realtors is accepting applications for its 2025 Minority Real Estate Scholarship, a program created to encourage and support minority participation in Delaware’s real estate industry.
By increasing diversity among real estate professionals, the association aims to expand opportunities for minority home seekers and strengthen communities statewide. The scholarship provides financial assistance to help recipients begin their careers in real estate. Benefits include prepayment of the required 99-hour salesperson pre-licensing course through The CE Shop, payment for the first attempt at the state licensing exam, and a waiver of national, state and local Realtor association dues for the first year. Recipients also take part in networking sessions with fellow scholarship awardees.
Eligible applicants include Latinos, African Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Arab and other Middle Eastern Americans, Native Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Inuit and Alaska Natives. Preference will be given to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be highly motivated, able to sustain three to six months of start-up time in the industry and have flexible schedules for sales appointments. They must be permanent Delaware residents with proof of a high school diploma or GED. Applicants are required to submit three letters of recommendation, including one from a Realtor and one from a supporting broker willing to serve as a mentor, along with a completed application and a typed essay.
Applications are due by Wednesday, Oct. 15. The DAR board of directors will review applications in November, and awards will be announced in December. Up to three scholarships may be awarded this year, depending on available funding and verification of eligibility.
“At DAR, we are committed to creating equitable pathways into the real estate profession,” said Scott Farnan, DAR president. “This scholarship provides the support and resources needed to help talented individuals succeed in the industry and strengthen our communities.”
