Come for the fish, stay for the rock star.

Dave Grohl, the rock star best know for his stints with Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, enjoyed lunch July 29 at Lewes Oyster House on Second Street. Brayden Ostan, the restaurant’s assistant general manager, said Grohl came in with seven others and were seated at the chef’s table.

“He had a couple of Downeast Ciders, a shrimp po’ boy and a Caesar side salad,” said Ostan, who added that they didn’t recognize Grohl at first, but a buzz quickly blazed through the restaurant.

Ostan said Grohl was happy to pose for a a photo with his server, Amanda, and another employee – also named Amanda – which the restaurant posted on Facebook.

Grohl also stopped into Kids’ Ketch, just down the block.

Ostan said Grohl knows the owners of the former Fork & Flask in Lewes. The three-time Grammy award-winner has been a frequent visitor to Delaware beaches over the years to visit family.
