Del Tech softball earns top seed in regional

Baseball seeded third in its tournament

Delaware Technical Community College’s softball team finished the season with a record of 29-7-1 and earned the No. 1 seed in this weekend’s 2023 NJCAA Region 19 and Northeast District Division II Softball Championship Tournament, which will be hosted at the Owens Campus in Georgetown.

The double-elimination tournament will take place Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13. Delaware Tech’s first game will be against the winner of the play-in game between Lackawanna College and Salem Community College at 10 a.m., Friday, May 12. 

Delaware Tech is led by sophomore pitcher Carly Collins, who finished the season with a 12-2 record, 80 strikeouts and a 1.89 ERA. At the plate, sophomore third baseman Macey Myers had 61 hits, 58 RBIs and batted .488; sophomore outfielder Kandice Schlabach had 50 hits, 16 home runs, 58 RBIs, and batted .435; sophomore second baseman Logan Walls had 48 hits, 26 RBIs and batted .449; sophomore outfielder Megan Sterling had 47 hits, 37 RBIs and batted .500; and sophomore utility player Kylie Kruger had 49 hits, 26 RBIs and batted .405.

Baseball earns third seed

Delaware Tech’s baseball team finished the season 30-15 and earned the third seed in this weekend’s 2023 NJCAA Region 19 Division II Baseball Championship Tournament.

The double-elimination tournament will be hosted by top seed Lackawanna College Friday to Sunday, May 12 to 14. Delaware Tech’s first game will be against second-seeded Sussex County Community College (NJ) at 10 a.m., Friday, May 12. 

Delaware Tech is led on the mound by sophomore Zach Hart, who finished the season 6-1 with 65 strikeouts and a 3.05 ERA. At the plate, sophomore shortstop Hunter Rauch is batting .405 with 62 hits; sophomore outfielder Kory Pritchard is batting .395 with 68 hits; freshman catcher Mason Morris is batting .378 with 45 hits, 10 home runs and 46 RBIs; sophomore outfielder Will Turner is batting .384 with 53 hits and 43 RBIs; and sophomore first baseman Matt Rodriguez is batting .358 with 43 hits and 45 RBIs.
